A statistical approach to analyzing the mechanical properties of shape memory hydrogels

Abstract: This paper presents a statistical model for understanding the mechanical behavior of shape memory hydrogels (SMHs) through experimental mechanical testing and probabilistic analysis. PVA-based hydrogels were synthesized, and their tensile strength, Young’s modulus, and shape recovery efficiency were measured using a universal testing machine. A statistical analysis, incorporating normal distributions and Monte Carlo simulations, was applied to model the variability and predict mechanical behavior under diverse conditions. The findings provide insights into the mechanical consistency and predictability of SMHs, making them suitable for applications in biomedical and engineering fields.
